Dr Grace McMahon

Post-Doctoral Researcher

Dr Grace McMahon is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Psychology.

My post-doctoral research focuses on the health psychology of trauma, and is part of the Social Identity Model of Trauma and Identity Change (SIMTIC) project.

My research interests lie mainly at the intersection of health psychology and social  psychology. Broadly speaking, I am interested in the impact of stress and trauma on psychological and physiological health.

Specifically, my research has examined the impact of stress on health at key life stages (adolescence, young adulthood, older adulthood) and explored how our social relationships, social support, attachment bonds and group memberships can alleviate the damaging effect of stress and trauma on health.
